Zonta International is a leading global organization of professionals empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy.
Through various fundraising efforts, the Zonta Club of Central Oklahoma supports many service projects locally and internationally.
Two thirds of the club's fundraising revenues support local service projects such as YWCA Passageway, Mid-Del Youth and Family Services, IEEW, Supporting Kids in Independent Living (SKIL), Women's Firstep, Martha's House, Oklahoma Project Woman, Beautiful Dream Society and many others. The local projects to receive funding are voted on by the membership.YWCA Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Program
The remaining one third of our fundraising revenues support international service projects such as Maternal Neo Natal Tetanus Project in Nepal, Sri Lanka Water Well project, Anti Trafficking project in Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Amelia Earhart Fellowship, and scholarships.
International Service projects are voted on at the International Conventions each biennium. (For more information on the international service projects and scholarships visit Zonta International at www.zonta.org
Individual contributions, though not required, are received and encouraged on both the local and international level.
Several times each year, the club participates in a variety of service projects. For example, clothing is collected for an organization which provides appropriate work attire for women trying to return to the workforce, school supplies are collected for children from low income families, food is collected for various food banks and families at the holidays.
Although not required, many members make periodic or monthly contributions to the Zonta International Foundation for international service projects and scholarships.
